Acrobat Reader Questions

What is the Acrobat Reader?

The Adobe Acrobat reader is referred to as a helper application or "plug-in" that allows your web browser to view and print PDF files. PDF files are Portable Document Format files. In order to view PDF documents, you need to download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Once installed, you can print PDF files from your web browser.

How do I get the Acrobat Reader?

Acrobat is a free program that installs itself as a "plug-in" to your Web browser. You can download the free Adobe Acrobat reader by accessing the Adobe's web site.

What should I do if I cannot view PDF files after installing the Adobe Acrobat reader?

Be sure you have a current version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. It is recommended that you have version 5.0 installed. Older versions of the Adobe Acrobat Reader may not be able to correctly display the PDF files on our web site. If you still have difficulties, go the the Adobe's Support Site for assistance.

Why do you use PDF documents?

We try to minimize the use of PDF files as much as possible. However, some documents do not easily lend themselves to conversion to HTML. We are continuing to convert the majority of PDF files into HTML due to the length of time needed for downloading PDF documents. We will provide the option for you to download many PDF documents, such as technical or informational manuals so that you can utilize the PDF format to facilitate printing.
